Eleventh Rebirth [Video]

[Have a polite little smile.]

I do hope everyone was able to save themselves from being buried under the raining food! Though I'm pleased it's no longer a danger, it is a bit of a disappointment that we can't seem to store it...

...it seems like more and more of our friends are vanishing daily. I wasn't as close to them as some others out there, but my heart goes out to you all. Hopefully, we may all meet again.

Ah- Rain? Have you worked on the fireplace at all? It's getting cold. I can bring some wood or stones if you need them.

[Filtered to Kurotsuchi Mayuri || Unhackable]

[He sighs and his face falls into something completely expressionless- much more familiar.]

...have there been any results? I hope that our recent session was more informative than the first.

Ah! I have torn up some of the floor in the house like you said. Made a pit, and if you've got wood and stone, we could have a fire tonight, if you'd like.

That would be nice. It got too cold last night.

[identity profile] constantshower.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
All right. Are you home now?

[audio] [screened || unhackable]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I was a few minutes ago. I just went out to find some stones- we can use the flooring for the wood.

Oh, okay. I'll be there soon. Is there anything I should get while I'm out? Tea or some peaches?

[audio] [screened || unhackable]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Peaches again?

[A little sigh.]

I thought those were your favorite...?

[He sounds a little sad.]

Not when I have them every day!

Ah--um...

[Ponder ponder.]

Is there anything else you'd like?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
...Rain.

[A little pause.]

...you are aware that it just rained just about every kind of food imaginable, right?

To be honest? Yes, but the progress isn't advancing as quickly as I'd like. I do have an idea of how to continue, but it's slightly extreme.

[Private // Unhackable]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
...extreme? How so?

[audio] [screened || unhackable]

[identity profile] constantshower.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yes--but I--

[There is a small slapping sound, as though he just...well...facepalmed.]

I'll bring a chicken home and we can cook it.

[audio] [screened || unhackable]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
...not a live one, I hope.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Only mildly so. I just need to kill you.

[audio] [screened || unhackable]

[identity profile] constantshower.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not.

[He laughs.]

I got hit in the head with one last week.

[There's a long wait between his messages. When he finally does reply, it's just a simple question.]

What lead to this conclusion?

[audio] [screened || unhackable]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, then. Bring it home- if we get a fire going, we should be able to warm it up a little. A hot meal will do us both some good.

All right. I'll be there soon!

[And the feed clicks off as Rain goes to gather up a chicken. Once he's found a suitable one, he runs home. It doesn't take him more than 10 minutes, and he opens the door with a big smile.]

This is going to be a great meal!

[...yeah, Rain, way to be a little over-enthusiastic.

But Yuca smiles anyway. It's for the best.]

Mm, I certainly hope so.

I'm almost certain your soul is the cause of your... difficulties. I imagine separating you from it would not only solve your problem, but provide me with a very interesting bit of material...

I want to try removing it from you. If it succeeds, you'll die, and most likely be revived by the Animus. If it occurs how I predict, you'll either revive without the soul, or leave a copy of it in my possession, leaving only the Animus to deal with. I'm not sure if those spirits would restore you from the point you entered the world in, or the point from which you left it - but if I can keep your current soul from returning with you, that's half the problem complete.

[Well, it was natural for Rain to be happy! The first hot meal they've had in months, really.]

Let's start the fire--unless you're not hungry...

You're... removing my soul.

If I was forced to survive and this didn't solve the problem, how would this effect me? Immortality now is bad enough; I wouldn't want to face the rest of eternity without even a soul to be redeemed.

I suppose what I'm asking ultimately is this: if I revive without my soul, what can I expect to happen to me? Would I notice it's absence?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[There's a nice little circle of stones around the hole in the floor, which will hopefully keep the flames from spreading.]

I think we can do better, but this will work for now.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
An interesting question. From my contact with your soul, it seems to hold the grand majority, if not all of your memories from your past lives. Removing it would likely mean you wouldn't have any recollection of them, beyond what you currently have stored in your brain. I can't account for how much it's copied over.

[Not that he's sure what other effects being soulless would have on anyone, but as he's curious to find out, he doesn't bring it up]
