Twenty-Fifth rebirth [Video]

[Private to Kurotsuchi || Hackable]

[Blood is smeared against the camera of the PCD, making it harder to discern the figure on the ground in front of it. Yuca's good arm is outstretched, holding onto the device, while his left is tucked against his chest, the splintered bone casting a rather ugly shape onto the skin.

It's dripping down his face, clotted and purpled around his nose and right eye especially, tinging his lips red and trailing from the corners of his his mouth.]

Kurotsuchi-

[Just the effort of turning on the PCD alone is enough to make him wish he were dead already.]

-angel. There's another- an-angel.

[He spits blood from his mouth, wincing and pressing the coordinate button on the side of the device.]

[x,y]

...Come get me, and I'll tell you all about him.

[A soft breath. He's shaking. Yuca... the one time he trusted you to handle something on your own.]

Where all are you hurt? Anything vital?

Mm.

[He laughs weakly (and that hurts, so he stops).]

I- I've had worse.

[Fortunately, he notices the message quickly; just by looking at Yuca's condition makes him think he doesn't have a whole lot of time to wait around. Odd to have to save an immortal from death, though...]

Whatever you were doing, it was careless, wasn't it?

Hmph. I'll be there shortly.

Yeah.

[A deep, rattling breath.]

It was. [He'll be here soon, that's good. Yuca closes his eyes and waits.]

What were you thinking.

He- killed Rain.

[At least, Yuca thinks he did. Maybe Rain wasn't dead in either of their world's yet, but Folk was here with the cross, meaning Rain was there, without it. It's only logical, what would happen.]

Killed.

Rain wouldn't go down without a fight.

Yes he would.

[It's quiet, resigned, and he takes in a harsh breath as he tries to shift into a more comfortable position to wait for Kurotsuchi.]

He- the cross- [Small cough.] The cross- the-

[It has to be some kind of terrible irony, considering Yuca's first event, here in Adstring.]

Calm down.

[It's soothing, but also a soft command. Get it together, Yuca.]

What about the cross?

[Doesn't bother conversing, and just goes to fetch him instead. Though when he gets there, he's able to note more the extent of blood, the labored breathing, where the more obvious bones were broken - never minding the less obvious ones.

He sighs inwardly. He'd probably have to carry him back, and that's
tiring.

Still, Kurotsuchi sets about gathering him anyway, a little impatient; in the back of his mind is the annoying feeling he was forgetting something...]

Think you'll die if I move you?

[He shakes his head- the time it had taken Kurotsuchi together had been time to adjust a little to the pain, force it out of his mind, and cling to consciousness... so he's a little better off. But not much.]

-no. My spine isn't broken, and I don't think my ribs are in the position to puncture my lungs, [breathless,] unless I'm bent too forcefully.

Good. Easier to fix you back indoors, than do a makeshift job out here.

[Speaks while picking him up, though is still very careful; almost trying to help him to his feet, to avoid crumpling him up, and assuming most of his weight. Extremely gentle, really, even if it's not due to concern for Yuca's comfort; he'd be the one repairing him, so why create more damage than he needed to?]

You know how to stay still, don't you? Flash steps are fatiguing enough as it is.

[He kept any sound of pain to himself as Kurotsuchi moved him- it took him a moment ot two to reorient himself and actually hear the other man's words, but when he did, he gave a little nod of affirmation. Yuca didn't think it would be wise at the moment to waste the energy it would take to speak (not when he'd had such a nice chat with Al just before, anyway) and so, for the most part, kept quiet, trusting the shinigami to know how to handle him.]

[Al's thumb brushes over the corner of the screen. If he were there, he'd probably touching Yuca, despite how little that might actually help.]

... he's dangerous, isn't he? To everyone.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, that probably about had him as much as was possible, and it was with more impatience (plus a bit of paranoia - what if this new angel was still around, waiting to attack whoever showed up to help Yuca? Kurotsuchi didn't particularly like fighting anyone, much less someone who he knew little about.) that he ascertained that Yuca probably could survive the travel.

Getting Yuca back in as few pieces as possible was naturally preferable, so the shinigami began the slightly-arduous journey of flash stepping his way back to his house/lab. Mobility was never his specialty, nor was endurance, and carrying someone with him
was more effort than he liked putting into physical things. And he'd been working almost-constantly for a while; the captain's energies in general were depleted.

But it was without mishap that they arrived back to Kurotsuchi's place, the scientist keeping him as steady as he could in the process.]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[The sensation of being carried by a flash-stepping shinigami was an unpleasant one, and it was really all he could do just to stay conscious during the journey, no matter how much care Kurotsuchi was taking into not killing him. It had its toll on his body, and by the time they had finally arrived, he had lost even more blood and felt positively light-headed.]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Back, and now downstairs! Much easier to clean up than the upstairs, though carrying a body down stairs wasn't comfortable for him either. And he only had the one table, and it was currently...

...not occupied.

Confusion quickly turned to anger as the shinigami realized he really wasn't sensing Break's presence anywhere nearby, and the man hadn't simply become invisible or decided to lurk in a corner. He hadn't thought he'd be well enough to escape, but then, he had been somewhat more lax on the restraints the past few days, and he'd been in a rush when he'd noticed the message from Yuca.

Still, it meant the table was free enough, though Kurotsuchi cursed under his breath at the momentary loss of a subject, as well as that he couldn't move immediately to try to pursue.

But the surprise didn't keep him idle, and as soon as he had Yuca situated, he had tools out, tubes running over and around more haphazardly than usual, knowing he needed to replace blood quickly, even as he began setting up the repairs for the rest of his injuries.]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
He's- I have to- get it back.

[Fuck, why is he laying here? Yuca grits his teeth and presses his palms into the dirt, trying to force himself up.]

Get it to Rain, get it-

[His body convulses with the cough, half-coagulated blood spilling from his mouth and dropping to the ground.]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[He opened his eyes blearily as they get downstairs, murmuring something rather incomprehensible as he looked-

-and there really wasn't anyone else there. Something about that struck Yuca as wrong, but he couldn't figure out exactly what it was yet. He gave up trying to figure it out when Kurotsuchi started tending to him, needles and tubes and blood and pain and he wasn't really sure if he knew anything right then.

Dora Folk had probably killed Rain. He knew that much.]

[Offline]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Even as he works - and pushes back the 'needing to find out where his other subject went' problem - Kurotsuchi tries to ascertain whether it's at all likely Yuca could tell him anything right away about this new threat/test material.

He only dimly recalled when Yuca had left the lab; if he'd looked odder than usual, the shinigami hadn't noticed, and he didn't put much effort into figuring out the immortal's moods.]

Even when I get everything mending, you're going to need to rest for a while. I can drug you unconscious since you don't sleep.

[Even that much is said grudgingly, as he feels out exactly where and how much his left arm is broken; it wouldn't make sense to heal it into the wrong shape... not unintentionally, anyway.]

[Offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[He hissed in pain as Kurotsuchi prodded against his injuries, but didn't complain other than that, nodding just barely to show that unconsciousness was probably the best option. Yuca was barely able to pay attention as it was, barely able to stop himself from trying to fly off of the table and go right back out after Folk, injuries be damned. He had Rain's cross and oh, that wasn't a good thing.

Dazed, he let his eyes close (the left anyway, his right was pretty much swollen shut as it was) and pushed past the pain, past the bloodloss, and reached for rationality. Folk had the cross, and he couldn't get it. Not with his current abilities, not with his current body-

-but he was building machines, wasn't he?

No, no, that was a bad idea. Set some animal angels after Folk, set the allies he'd spent months and months on the man- if he died in the process, how would he figure out how to get the cross to Rain? No... no, he wasn't thinking clearly. Rain wasn't here. And when he was, he had the cross? All of the complications of timelines overlapping was making his headache all the worse.]

[Definitely not the best time to try to get answers out of him. And though he sighed at the nuisance of it all, Kurotsuchi hooked a thread of strong anesthetics in with the rest of the fluid he was replenishing.

The damage otherwise seemed simple, if brutal enough. Nothing remarkable - no signs of getting hit by fancy abilities, or poisoned by exotic drugs.

Just plain force, and plain injuries. Easier to treat, even if it wasn't exciting. And he was familiar with Yuca's physiology by now.]
