Forty-ninth rebirth [Video]

[He knows he's on- whatever criminal database they're keeping. And, quite honestly, he's offended. Yuca takes a big breath. One may notice that some strands of his hair end in small leaves, the teensiest of budding flowers arranged delicately behind his ear. His skin is slightly darker, and long creases run though his arms, not unlike the patterning of bark. It's almost... pretty, in an odd sort of way.
Of course. Yuca could pretty much pull anything off.]
...I was under the impression that I've given everyone a chance to bring their arguments to me. To allow revenge on those who wished to exact it, to extend my apologies to all of the parties involved.
[He bites his lip and looks- almost regretful, there.]
Apparently, that wasn't the case.
Personally, I don't care who added my name to the register. Nor am I surprised to see it there. However. [His jaw tenses a little, and Yuca takes a deep breath.] My immortality is not something that should be flaunted around lightly. It has no effect on my fighting abilities, or anything else I've done- and compared to some of your powers, I can't even directly hurt anyone with it.
Perhaps if I summoned fire, or was able to turn lead into gold, or if I was some mythological god- [Yes, he has his suspects. Here's looking at you guys (and a few others, but mostly you punks).] -but I don't. I'm not.
[There's another long pause. Yuca leans back, considers his words for a moment, calms himself down.] You see, the main problem is- my name being up there can potentially do two things.
One- [Ticking it off lazily with a finger] -and most obvious, it warns people, mostly newcomers, away from me. Which, of course, I appreciate the effort to protect our fellow citizens. Thank you for being so thoughtful. [And the way he says it just... holy crap, he makes that sound genuine.] Though... that could have been achieved simply with a name and a summary of what transpired last Summer.
[Yuca glances off toward the window, letting out the slightest frown. He is Not Happy. But he hides it rather well, beyond a faint hint of disappointment, regret.] By including my inability to die, I'm not only painted as a target for everyone who wants to know the secret of immortality- through brutal methods or not- but my credibility is also rather damaged, and someone might get the idea that Rain isn't safe with me.
[And God forbid anyone get that idea. Yuca takes a deep breath, and- strangely enough- sighs, pouting almost comically, as he lifts a second finger.]
Two... think of the church. Attendance is going to be worse than ever, now.
[[ooc: THE LIST: Horst, Tommy, Al, Break, Sasuke, Hitsu, Zuko, Kotaru, Unohana.... okay screw it, IF YOU WERE HERE LAST SUMMER FOR THE ANGEL PLOT and Yuca thinks your character was unhappy with how it went, you're on the filter. No need to ask if you are, if there's any inkling of doubt that you might be included, you are.
Oh. Yeah. He's also part-tree for this event. Whoop.]]

[He's not going to make a case with you.]
I apologize for tangling you up in all this. I appreciate what you're trying to do for the people here- it's very brave of you.
[Same filter//Video]
["Brave" gets a laugh.] Is that code for stupid? It's okay, everyone else is being blunt, you won't hurt my feelings.
[Same filter//Video]
[He smiles back.] I'm not lying. Sometimes doing what you think is right puts you in danger- even if it seems trivial to someone else, it's important enough to you to damn the consequences. I'd call that bravery.
[Same filter//Video]
[Not going to state it, but he is mentally adding Yuca to the "protect from crazy scientists as long as he stays peaceful" list. The last gets a wry grin.]
I already know I'm amazing.
[Same filter//Video]
[Shrugging, a little helplessly.]
And so modest. I couldn't help but note that your profile matches another certain one on that list...
[Same filter//Video]
I'm just full of virtues. It's pretty impressive, I impress myself, daily.
I've done my rogue phase. It was only fair I add myself.
[Same filter//Video]
[He laughs.]
If only we were all so honest. [That's a bit more sarcastic than the 'brave' comment, but it's all with good intentions.]
[Same filter//Video]
You wound me. I'm an open book.
[Same filter//Video]
[No, it's not. But Yuca is a master of bullshitting everything, ever.]
Are you? You haven't been here long enough to tell.
[Same filter//Video]
Totally open. Because I'm just too virtuous and honest and all that.
[Same filter//Video]
It wasn't sarcastic. Someone should have done something like that a long time ago.
I'll let time be the judge of that, I think.
[Same filter//Video]
Not arguing. But I guess no one wanted to take on the title of Mr. Popularity.
Guess you got all of that you could want.
[Same filter//Video]
[Yuca is a special breed &hearts ]
[Same filter//Video]
Sounds like it isn't so fun.
[Same filter//Video]
Sounds like you wouldn't really be interested to hear me complain about it.
[Politely, of course.]

My first memories were of the sun.
[Still- light, in a way. Testing him, to see if he really cared.]
[Same filter//Video]
The sun?
[Same filter//Video]
[Calm, tranquil. He's so still, he looks more... treelike, somehow.]
The heat bearing down into my skin. There was nobody else- just me and the badlands, for hundreds of miles- or what would be miles, for all that they hadn't been invented yet.
[Same filter//Video]
[As flippant as his words are, he's not really dismissing Yuca's sharing either.]
[Same filter//Video]
There were dogs- there were kites. It's hard to remember when, or how they fit in, but they were there.
[A long pause, and the smile slowly diminishes.]
I died of starvation.
