I don't mind. [A weak laugh, which is cut off prematurely, because ow, that hurts.] I'm.. I'm not sure how- interesting I'll be to talk to- but, I mean. That- it would be nice to see you, I think.
[Voice] [Private || Unhackable only because Al set it]
[A few minutes later, after a gentle knock on the door and a greeting to Rain, Al settles down on a spare stool by the bedside, leaning over to lightly touch Yuca's hand and let him know he's there.]
[Rain greets him, before moving outside to give them a few minutes and search for some more food. Yuca is laying on the bed, the blankets pulled up and his arms resting on top of it. He isn't wearing a shirt, but some heavy bandaging is peeking out from underneath the blankets, and his breathing sounds strained.
At the touch, he opens his eyes. He wasn't sleeping, and he looks happy to see his friend.]
[A little smile, and Al reaches into his pack, pulling out some supplies they might find useful, mostly bandages and first aid supplies, but there's a loaf of fresh bread in there too, on top, some warm blankets, and a light blue coat heavy big enough for Rain to wear, barely.]
Thought you two could use a few things. I guess I was right.
[Al winces as he watches Yuca's body react, and how far the bandages go. Without a word, he reaches out to fluff the pillows behind him so he can lean against them.]
I don't mean to fuss over you. I just don't like seeing someone in pain. Natural instincts, I guess.
[He scoots himself up so he's resting against the pillows a little, smiling back toward Al. The bandages are completely down his torso, but they're not outwardly stained with blood at this time.]
Well- thank you. I appreciate it. How've you been?
[... dammit, he wants to tell Yuca to lay down. That can't be good for him. He keeps his hands in his lap, though they twitch a little, as if he wants to urge Yuca to move.]
Catching up on sleep. Negi and I baked brownies last week. I don't know if you like sweets, but I brought some extras for you and Rain. Assisting the Colonel, he just came back, he's from my world... and catching up with my brother.
[Al nods and slices off the end of the oblong loaf, tearing it in half lengthwise so it's easier to get to the softer part inside. He holds it out to him, and wraps up the rest of the bread in plastic wrap.]
We will. We always are.
... so... it didn't work, huh...? Did he find anything?
[Yuca takes the bread with a small word of thanks, biting into it as Al spoke. He paused at the question, contemplating the bread in his hand, before shrugging quietly.]
He didn't tell me much about the procedure itself. It... beforehand, he injected something into my chest. It- that glowing liquid sort of- made my soul come out, or something. I think he experimented on that. I passed out though, shortly after he started the autopsy.

I don't think- we have... and I think I have to change them. I don't know, do you know how long these painkillers are supposed to last?

[He chides himself.]
Obviously. I should have- uhn, I don't know, Al. I'm sorry.
[Voice] [Private || Unhackable only because Al set it]
... do you mind company? I'm used to looking after wounded.

I don't mind. It would just make me feel better to be there, at least for a little while.

[A few moment's pause, before Yuca sends his coordinates.]

I'm- I'm glad you could make it, Alphonse.

[He pulls himself up a little, shrugging.]
It's so strange, having people fuss over me like this. I don't- I don't think I understand why you're so concerned.

[A tiny smile.]
You'll just have to put up with it.

[Yuca doesn't laugh this time, but he looks like he wants to. He's oblivious to Al's mothering instincts, sorry.]
You and your brother- are you two alright? Last time we spoke, you were worried about him.
[Offline]
Would you like some of this right now? Can you eat?
Mmmn, yeah... we still haven't talked about certain things, but I feel like we know each other again now. He hasn't changed much at all.
[Offline]
[A soft little smile- but it's hollow and obvious he's not feeling it.]
That's good to know. I'm sure the two of you will be fine.

[He takes a deep breath.]
Cut open my chest, cracked some of my ribs off- I think that's when I blacked out, though.

Not at first... I think it was after I woke up again.
