Ninth rebirth- [text]

I have a hard time seeing how the Animus were able to summon giant turkeys, just for our displeasure. Unless they somehow arrived here like we did?

This... seems like a silly question- but does anyone have anything resembling these creatures from their home world? It seems odd that such a monster could just be created out of thin air.

[identity profile] meteo-sniper.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean turkeys or animus?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah- I was talking about the turkeys, but the idea that the Animus may have come from another world is an interesting one as well.

[identity profile] meteo-sniper.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Turkeys in my world are smaller then these, and not dangerous at all. They're quite commons, in ah, certain areas. As for Animus, who knows maybe they're stuck here too?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes- turkeys in my world are similar. I've never seen or heard of anything like an Animus before... but maybe it's true. Who really knows how anything winds up here, anyway? For all we know, we could be being lied to.

[identity profile] meteo-sniper.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Can we be lied when there is no information in first place, to be the substance of said lie?

What we know, is only that there is or are some sort of beings, that are able to warp the reality of this place and our mind. Which is fact. And everything else is a theory.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
If they're able to distort both this reality and our minds- well, it's an unpleasant thought. If they can remove memories, who knows what else they could do? They could just be putting theories in our heads and laughing at us bumbling around.

...though, I suppose there's little use in trying to figure it out. Not if they're the ones in control.

[identity profile] meteo-sniper.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Precisely. Whatever their reasons are, they are not letting us to understand them

I guess, I just grew to treat them like natural disasters of this place. You can't try and predict where they hit, you can try and be ready for it. But you really can't do anything about them.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a good way of thinking about it. I generally just try to stay out of the way- and consider myself lucky that nothing... overly gruesome has happened to me yet. Though my heart goes out to those more unfortunate than I. I wish there was something more we could do to help the people hit hardest by these... 'disasters', you called them?

[identity profile] meteo-sniper.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Dealing when it happens seems to be the only way. We cannot predict what their next ideas will be, - and fortunately, not all of them are dangerous - but we can act as fast, as we're able to.

I guess I just repeated something obvious.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's alright! It's good advice, regardless.

How have you been recently, anyway? I trust the turkeys and dorms haven't harmed your psyche too much?
al_truism: (Huh~?)

Usually the turkeys aren't giants in my world, but I guess someone into biological alchemy could have concocted something like this.

[Hesitates.]

[identity profile] meteo-sniper.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Me? Ah, got lost in the Wastes, and came back on the turkeys. They don't pose much a threat, if you're high enough...or rather, I hope so. You?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been alright. A little sore- I had a bit of a nasty surprise a few weeks ago- but Rain has been taking care of me, so I've managed to stay out of trouble since then.

Alphonse! [A smile that they both know is fake, before getting down to business.]

Biological alchemy? How is that possible, unless- someone fused a hundred or so of them together?

[identity profile] meteo-sniper.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Were you injured? If it's something serious you could always see lady Unohana, or our other medic Rosalie. But well, if you're being taken care of-

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes- I visited lady Unohana, bless her soul. She was very kind, and her methods were very effective. I'm almost good as new!
al_truism: (AHAHAHAHAHA please stop talking)

Yuca. [Al smiles back, and it's definitely real, but there's still a distance in his eyes.]

...

No, because then it would be a giant blob of a hundred turkeys mashed together...

[... which would be horrifying.]

[He shrugs]

You know more about it than I do.

Genetic engineering, however, could also be a likely method. But the turkeys bear no resemblance to Angels, so I doubt any of this could have much to do with my world.

Alchemy might have something on genetic engineering... it can alter things at a molecular level. Living, organic tissue is made of most of the same things inanimate objects are.

Theoretically if someone could isolate the growth hormones of the turkeys and turn the metaphorical switch upwards, and then add more testosterone to make them more aggressive, that could make these.

But why would anyone do that?

...

That's good. I really wonder what we'd do without her to glue and patch us to health.

I dare not think about it. It's good that this- Rosalie? That she's helping as well. That way, there's always a backup medic.

...though, death here seems to not be permanent anyway. If someone is grievously injured with no aid, then suicide might not be a terrible decision.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a lot more difficult in practice than in theory. There are a lot of nasty things that can result from just trying to increase growth hormones. Cancer and a multitude of other health problems, to say the least. Plus, the telomeres would have to be manipulated as well, if they were trying to grow a small turkey into a giant one. I'm betting that they were large to begin with.

...still, if anyone can do it, I'm betting these scientists could.

[identity profile] mister-hatter.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I know a world where such things exist.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Giant turkeys? Is it possible that these here could have come from there?

[identity profile] mister-hatter.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It's unlikely, and for a number of reasons.
