Sixteenth Rebirth- [audio]

It feels so empty in this place, now.

Though, I understand some new people have arrived. Hello!

[Silence. It's almost awkward.]

...I don't know how much longer this can go on. [...he's really not doing so well on the whole 'inconspicuous' part anymore, is he? Cough, cough, he tries to remedy that, at least a little.] Maybe I should take up a hobby. Any recommendations?

[And here's that little bit of evil bastard that's still got alive and kicking.]

I understand that you've gotten a new addition to your ranks? Congratulations. Perhaps we could have a discussion at some point or another- I'm still highly curious as to what, exactly, you are.

I'm pleased enough to offer up information on my end too, of course.

[ooc: in response to Rain's leaving for awhile to take care of Ukitake ;;]

Good. Though if you have any more of that free time, I could have use of an assistant.

An assistant?

I... may be able to help you there, mister Kurotsuchi.

You seem clever enough, or at the least, capable of following directions. Both of which are uncommon traits in this city.

I don't need the help, and I'm certain you have other things to occupy yourself. But if you ever want to make yourself useful - apart from being studied, naturally - it wouldn't be hard to find something for you to do.

Ah- thank you, I suppose.

In that case, I'd be glad to assist whenever I can. Like I've already said, there isn't much to do, now that Rain's off with Ukitake. I could use the distraction.

So your friend abandoned you? Though I wonder what he thinks he can do for Ukitake. If Unohana's never been able to fix him, he's beyond help.

In any case, if you can make it here, consider yourself distracted.

Abandoned isn't the word for it. Before I- before Rain became immortal, he was taken with Consumption. He believes Ukitake to have something similar, but I don't really care about the details.

That works perfectly for me, then. Will you be needing me any time in the near future?

He has the symptoms for tuberculosis, yes, but there's medicines for that now. There has to be something more to it than that, but I've never examined him in any detail.

Any time now.

Yes, well, leave Rain to it. He'll come back soon enough.

Alright. I'm assuming it's in the same place as last time- I'll head over and you can show me the basics of what's to be expected of me.

Well, it's no interest of mine.

Same as before. I was considering relocating someplace larger - but then that blizzard hit, and I haven't had the time to look for someplace since.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
There are plenty of places- I've been looking around for a new home myself, but... wouldn't the relocation be a bit difficult? You have quite the setup where the lab is, currently.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Plenty of space, but how much is suitable for a lab? And yes - transporting everything and setting it back up would take effort. But my current setup was makeshift, only intended to be temporary. There's no room to expand further with it.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I could try to help there- I'd only be able to help with manual labor, but it might make things a bit easier.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
That... would be useful, yes. I don't have any pack animals, and as slow as it would be, carrying things manually might be the only solution.

If you find a suitable place, inform me and I'll show up to help. If Rain is done playing around, he can come too.

[screened | unhackable]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. Though if you come across anywhere you think might be fitting, let me know.

How much space do you need, roughly? Does it need a basement, or could you operate on a ground floor? There have been a few new eastern-style houses that I'm aware have come up recently... and I remember seeing an old cathedral, if you really needed space. The other church might be nice, too- not a lot of people would bother with poking around there.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
A couple thousand square feet minimum; if I'm going to move, I want it to be worth the time. I would prefer a basement, it's easier to reinforce. A cathedral... possibly, I'd have to see it.

It's certainly large enough to accommodate your needs, and pretty fortified, in case of some outside attack.

Regardless, I'll keep an eye open and keep you informed.

Do you have the location of it?

Good.

Give me just a moment-
