Twentieth rebirth [text]

Good day, everyone.

I actually come to you all with a request for help. I'm trying to build machines- very complex, precise machines- and I wanted to know if anyone who can or will work with metal wants to help me?

I can do it myself, but... it would be far easier if someone out there had some ability to manipulate the materials I need. With the bunch of your abilities, I figure it's worth a shot.

These machines would be used for medical purposes- I realize Ms. Unohana is doing a superb job of healing her clients, but my goal is more of improving the general health of Adstringendum as a whole by boosting the effectiveness of immune systems, so we don't get sick quite so often.

I hope to eventually also modify these machines to enable us to nullify us to the Animus' effects on our bodies and psyche, but such plans would require a little testing.

And to our resident alchemists... if I draw up a molecular structure and provide you with things that the materials can be sapped from, would it be possible to draw the components from the items in order to create the composition detailed in the drawings? I'm a little unsure as to the extent of your abilities...

Ah, apparently there are new people here? I'm pleased to have the opportunity to meet all of you. If you have problems, don't hesitate to contact me, I don't mind helping anyone out.

[[ooc: There's nothing like channeling your grief into a little chaos. Yuca here is aiming to make machines and serums that will enable him to recreate the monstrous Angels (whether he'll actually be able to or not remains to be seen). Help him out? You know you want to...]]

[Has no idea what the real intent is, but wanting to help boost everyone's immune systems is a good idea, to avoid getting too sick, and she has plenty of experience with metals having trained in auto-mail prosthetics. Totally pinged from the start with mentions of machines, of course.]

Um, maybe I can help? I'm Winry, Winry Rockbell and I have some basic medical knowledge, as well as experience in working with metals.

Oh- it's wonderful to meet you.

[He sounds cheerful enough- his voice is light and innocent.]

Thanks for offering your assistance. I'm actually finishing up the basic blueprints for the first machine- I can send you the image when I'm done, and you can tell me if you're interested or not.

[voice] Still so clueless, mechanic.

[identity profile] endureandwait.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes! That would be great, if you could. There is a lot here I'm still new to, given I am from 1914/15, but I'll do my best!

[voice] Just what he needs, though. >:)

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ah- 1914? Well... I could certainly use help with fashioning some of the metal pieces, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

[Private | Unhackable]
[He sends her low quality images of basic blueprints- a detailed centrifuge, a marvelously designed bacteria extraction and scanning device.]
[/Private | Unhackable]

I can handle the wiring and things- I just need someone to help me with the metal shell itself.

[Fuck. Fuckfuck oh fuck. This is bad. This is so, so bad. Who does he tell? DOES he tell? Because he knows exactly what Yuca's doing. He knows exactly, precisely what Yuca's doing.

We all know that Yuca's not going to heal people, he's going to-

No, he's the only one that knows. Oh fuck oh fuck oh god.]

Yuca.

[There's a lot of worry and anger worked into that word, there.]

Hm?

[He looks down at the screen, pushes a few buttons to make the post private. There's nothing but faint bemusement in his tone and he smiles cheerily toward Al, resting his chin on his palm.]

Yes?

[Oh shady person requesting help with medical machines. This isn't a scenario Topher is familiar with at ALL.]

You think you can build a machine that can block the Animus effects? I wasn't aware anyone was even studying that.

What kind of machines? Scanning/diagnostics?

[Text] tl;dr attack, sorry XD

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I think I can try. I haven't had the opportunity to study the effects of Adstring's events on people thusfar- I'd been distracted with people who are gone now. But currently, I'm able to dedicate my full time to figuring out just what sort of effects the Animus may have on our body chemistry to pull these hallucinations or added effects. And if I can figure out how, then it's possible I'll be able to develop a drug that nullifies the effect that it has on us.

At the moment, only basic machines. My goal currently is to improve the immune system of some of our- frailer residents. I'm supplied with a microscope and basic tools for studying tissue, but none that lets me create. So- at first, I'll probably need something simple, like a centrifuge, a scanner or two, and probably an ideal place to grow different types of bacteria and mold. Something to help me extract the secretions of said bacteria, and several other machines to help me manipulate the chemical compounds in order to make lasting antibiotics. It's very complicated, but I'm drawing up blueprints, if you'd like to have a look.

[Text] lol I love tl;dr

[identity profile] mytechendsworld.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
I think it would be hard to find a sure fire way to block everything they do but certainly having basic anti-psychotics would be a start and not just against the Animus. A lot of the people here need Prozac stat!

Bennett, Claire and I er, borrowed microscopes from the high school when it was doing that weird ghost people thing. There's just one centrifuge but I can easily help you make another. Scanners, anything with computers will be far more difficult--have you taken a part your PCD yet? I think those might be powerful enough to create something basic but you would have to find a couple not in use.

I'd love to check blueprints.

I'm Topher btw.

[Text] dude tl;dr is my friend

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yuca Collabell- it's nice to meet you.

I agree. A definite end-all, be-all would be nearly impossible, but negating the weaker effects are bound to do some people some good.

I would love it if you could help me with a centrifuge- just a makeshift one should be fine. With the actual computers, I'm not looking forward to making those from scratch, but I really appreciate the tip about PCDs- I hadn't even thought of those. I should even have a spare one lying around the house somewhere... one of my housemates recently went home, unfortunately.

As for the blueprints, I'm just finishing up the first in-depth one, but I can send you images of the basics, if you want to look them over before meeting up.

Don't look at me like that.

[He smiles.]

If you don't want to participate, you don't have to. I know some people here object to science and prefer- religion, or something of the sort, and I'm okay with that. I'm not forcing anyone to take part.

[personal profile] ff_red_turk 2010-04-21 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people fear that science may disprove the presence of a god, or that... well, take what I'm doing for example.

[He shrugs, helplessly, fingering the cross on his necklace.]

Some might say that I'm trying to do better than god by helping people's natural immune systems. I disagree... I feel as if the lord would be pleased with what I'm trying to do.

Interesting way of asking for help.

Any success so far?

[Private//Unhackable]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, though not as much as I'd hoped. Still, the less I have to do on my own, the better off I'll be.

It's possible some are too distracted by all the newcomers. Once they're over that, they might be more useful.

[identity profile] earths-dragon.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
My expertise, I fear, is middling at best. Yet there are few things more beneficial to a community than an undertaking of scale. How may I assist?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I appreciate the offer for assistance. I could always use help in the actual assembling and construction of the machines themselves. Are you familiar with metalworking or wiring?

[identity profile] earths-dragon.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Reasonably, yes. You will require tools as well, I imagine.
