Thirty-second rebirth [Accidental Video]

[He's standing on the edge of a tall, tall building- the very lip of it- staring out into the distance. As if one slight breeze wouldn't knock him over and topple him to what would probably be his death.

Ys (not Yuca, Ys) takes a deep breath. Looks down toward the ground, lets the wind sway him where he stands. His eyes are hollow, dead. He looks like he's going to jump.

He's ten years old.

...but it wouldn't accomplish anything, would it? He would just come back. Come back in Adstring, come back in his world, it didn't particularly matter. It was absolutely and utterly futile. Trapped in this body, in his memories, a prisoner of life itself.

Still standing on that ledge, he looks to the sky and his tiny frame is wracked with a small sob.]

[[ooc: Due to canon update event, Yuca is now Ys, his future reincarnation. I'm a bit shaky with his voice, please forgive me D8]]

It almost ripped my arm off.

[He laughs- it's not very genuine.]

I had a... an acquaintance that got rid of it. I can't do much by means of fighting in this body, not when I'm so young.

[Arm almost off still counted to him as 'not very far', though he supposed it was probably different with humans. Almost certainly different, now that he thought about it...]

Convenient. It's not about to fall off now, is it?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
No. I got it looked at and everything- just a few deep gashes on my wrist from its teeth, but that's the worst of it.

[Looking over his arm with a mild disinterest.]

It doesn't really hurt anymore.

Hm. You should probably treat it, if being glanced at is the most you've had done.

[Can't really offer to heal it himself, even if he'd cared to; just mentioning that much was his version of consideration.]

Or change the bandages once in a while. Do you want anything to drink?

[Indifferently changes the subject; he'd prodded around the house while Ys had been gone, suspicious of the whole "not being in an underground asylum" thing, but in the process had figured out where things were.]

[His expression falls a little bit, and his fingers tighten into a small fist.]

...it's been looked at. [He swallows hard, before shaking his head.]

Um- yes. A drink would be nice. [Ys starts slowly making his way to the kitchen.]

[Notices the change in look, but doesn't care enough about that either to question it, and moves to collect the items for tea, starting the water and not looking at him.

Even though he knows the immortal can't taste it, still makes him the same thing. Maybe he could smell it, anyway.]

Did you have a hard time finding your way back?

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
A little.

[He's thankful for the subject change, if nothing else, moving to sit at the table with a small sigh.]

Adstring is a very strange place.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems that way.

[Waiting for the water to boil now; turns and glances at him.]

So you remember this place as well, then?

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Some things. People, mostly.

[He picks at the wood of the table.]

Places and directions, not quite so much. It's all just- more things to remember though.

I wonder what it'll be like at the end of the event, if that's what it is.

[With the water boiled, he finished up the tea, carrying the mismatched cups back over to the table.]

If any of this will stick.

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think it's possible we'll go back?

[Taking his cup and blowing in it, letting the steam wash over his face.]

Me to not knowing, and you, to... I don't know-

[offline]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
It seems like a lot of things are possible here. I assume I'll still remember either way, but for you-

[Shrugs, sitting down with his own cup.]

Do you want to forget, whatever it is?

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
[He goes quiet at the question, before letting his eyes slip shut and nodding once, tersely.]

...I do.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Is silent for a few moments, concentrating on his drink instead.]

Then you know what to hope for, at the end of the week.

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
[He takes a small sip, not bothering to recoil at the heat- it didn't bother him much.]

...I hate hoping for things.

[offline]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Useless, isn't it? It's something humans like believing in.

[Comfort, he doesn't much have it.]

Probably better in the long run to just deal with it.

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Accept the facts...

[He tilts his head back to stare at the ceiling.]

And forget if you can. That seems to be dealing with it, doesn't it?

[offline]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
Accepting isn't the same as forgetting, but either works. What's getting used to yet another thing matter?

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-25 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently, it matters a lot.

[He sighs and takes a drink of his tea.]

[offline]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-25 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
You've lived that long, and something still matters?

[Slightly, if only idly curious.]

Why?

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know.

[He's frustrated.]

It's- her. She's insane. Her eyes- they're insane. [He reaches up and slides his hand through his hair.] As crazy as Rain's.

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[It wasn't an explanation that made much sense to him, but he only sighs.]

And that matters?

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
No.

[He squeezes his eyes shut.] Yes. I don't know anymore.

[offline]

[identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Doesn't understand that whole 'comforting' thing; goes for 'realistic.']

I suppose you'll have the time to figure it out.

[offline]

[identity profile] neverquitedies.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose I will.

[His voice is hollow.]
